Simon Winstanley Architects has done great architectural residential project with this sustainable low energy house design located in south-west Scotland.

The house plan is built on a former quarry, mirroring the stone that characterizes the area and surrounded by a green landscape. The stone home design is topped by a wood and glass enclosure that offers beautiful scenery to the surrounding countryside and the sea, lightening up the heavy stone architecture. This glass wall house area is built using a steel frame with cedar panels and triple-glazed windows, and is topped by an overhanging roof framing the outdoor entertaining areas.

This eco sustainable home is “green” in more ways that one – apart from its views, the sustainable house boasts recycled and Earth-friendly materials and technologies throughout, including: the masonry base is finished using recycled quarry stone; high-insulation exterior walls, floor and roof; triple-glazed thermal windows; heat pump for sub-floor heating and hot water system with a closed combustion wood burning stove for back-up heating; roof-mounted Photovoltaic panels; whole-house heat recovery ventilation system.

The campana brothers have designed a special edition of Vermelha Chair modeled after the italian flag for + edra. This special edition ‘italian pride’ model is available only on demand.

This vermelha chair special edition takes four days and 500 meters of acrylic & natural cotton rope to make the woven Vermelha. Only one person at the factory is able to weave the chair, it's considered one of the best examples of Edra's mix of high tech and craftsmanship.

Aesop Store in Singapore by March Studio

This new Aesop store interior in Singapore is designed by Melbourne architects March Studio. The architects have hung 30 km of coconut-husk string from the ceiling of the new shop in Singapore the Australian skincare brand Aesop.

Designed in collaboration with Aesop director Dennis Paphitis, the interior was inspired by the twine used to tie the company’s gift boxes. In our Singapore store, thirty kilometres of coconut husk string, a regional product, was used to construct a dynamic whole-ceiling light fixture. When combined en mass, the seemingly insignificant threads mesmerise and remind one of airline magazine flight maps.

Aesop Director Dennis Paphitis says, “Geography, climate and light all inform which path we take with our design decisions. For Singapore, we referenced the humble ball of twine with which we wrap and detail our gift boxes. The entire store is framed with meticulously detailed grids that suspend twine from the ceiling. The idea is to work with a sombre material palette in an unexpected way. We’ve used coir matting as carpet and marine plywood to detail our storage units which conceal a palette of Corbusier-inspired coloured wall panels.”
